Julie Pizzat and Alexandria Talley
For the month of February, 2018, we are pleased to present our two interim costume mistresses, who dressed our Elberton Show, Julie Pizzat and Alexandria Talley, as our Spotlight Members.
Julie Pizzat was born and raised in Savannah, GA and has been dancing since the age of 5. She first studied Irish dance and later trained in ballet, jazz, tap, modern and contemporary.
Julie will graduate in May 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Human Development and Family Science. During her time at UGA, Julie has dedicated her time with organizations such as Shop With a Bulldog, IMPACT, UGA Day of Service, Athens Nurses Clinic, and studied abroad in Australia and New Zealand. She currently serves as the President of Pre-Nursing society and will attend Emory School of Nursing in the Fall.
Since joining BPG in Fall 2016, she has brought a positive and passionate energy to the group! Julie has taught lessons, performed in a #@9, worked on the costume committee for Ballroom Magic 2018, and will present her first choreographed #@9 this Spring!
Julie is incredibly thankful to BPG for allowing her to continue performing dance and for bringing social dance into her life.
As a 4th year Avian Biology major and a vegan, aspriring veterinarian, Alexandria Talley has a passion and love for animals of all shapes and sizes. Alex never fails to bring a smile to the face of those watching her shimmy through a Salsa or slink through a Tango, her two favorite dances. Born in America but raised in Germany, Alexandria started ballroom dancing in high school as an after school activity. When she came back to America to go to UGA, she found BPG, and she started working on her dance technique. Her high school experience in theatre and cheerleading gave her a boost in her performance knowledge. As a dancer, Alex's love for the movement always shows through her glowing face. The audience can't help but enjoy watching her.
In her spare time, Alexandria works with Speak out for Species, an animal rights advocacy group on campus. She also volunteers at the animal shelter, helping to find homes for lost pets. Lastly, you can always find her at home, cooking with her friends or roommates and caring for her many animals. Alex lives with 3 cats, 1-2 dogs, 6 chickens, and 2 guinea pigs. Her animals and her dance friends make up a new family in her American home-away-from-home while her mom, dad, and sister are back in Germany.
